Unit Situation Report |
|
Mar 16, 2010 - 12:12 PM - by 2LT.Hutson
|
We're very quickly getting through the training packages, from Radio Comms training (using the Arma to teamspeak plugin) to the navigation training. It's really excellent to see everyone so keen to do the training and get themselves trained up in the same way.
Our improvement as a group was very much in evidence with Operation Ankle-biter last Sunday (with a whopping 24 people attending in total) which showed that our work within sections to move, call in targets, overcome the enemy and finally achieve our objectives went very smoothly... yes, there is still room for improvement, but I really feel we're getting there quickly.
So where is all this training taking us? It's not just for the exercises we've been doing - but with a goal in mind. An upcoming "Deployment" that the 16AA will take part in - a series of Operations that will test everything we've done so far in a realistic way. The RLC will be designing maps with a "realistic" feel to them including civilians in the area so it's not the run-of-the-mill get in and kill the bad guys type mission.
There are a few bits we still need to cover, a little more work on our infantry skills and then we're good to go.
Click here if you're interested in enlisting.
16AA members, please see the following thread for more information on all of the above (this post is locked again, due to spamming)

Two Weeks On... |
|
Mar 05, 2010 - 3:01 PM - by 2LT.Hutson
|
We're now coming up to the two week mark since the 16AA has reformed - and I feel it's going rather well on the whole.
We're currently at a whopping 31 active members, with three people in training for deployment in the near future.
Our training is coming along well - the RRO department are doing an excellent job with setting everything up for recruits to move through the different bootcamp Phases 1 and 2... we've already seen one recruit pass through (well done again PTE.Seyler!) We've got two courses starting this weekend (the JNCO and Radio Comms courses - which can be signed up for on the forums) to move us along and several other courses (Parachute training, Navigation, etc) coming over the next week or so.
Our RLC department is also doing an excellent job on setting up our training map complete with shooting ranges, practice target location areas, places to practice vehicle and patrolling ambushing and several LZs for mini exercises. They're also the people working with the mods we're using currently and making sure things work.
We're also gearing up for our first major Operation which will be starting in a few weeks time once we've fully trained up (and we have a fair way to go still, but that's all part of the fun, eh?)
If you're interested in Enlisting, please see the recruitment information here.
Regards,
2LT Hutson
p.s. 16AA Members who want to comment can do so in this thread as I am locking this one due to some forum spamming over the past week. Plus there is a bit more information in that thread and it's easier to collect comments all in one place ... [Read More]

24SAS Merge and Another Reorg |
Feb 28, 2010 - 6:02 PM - by 2LT.Hutson
|
It is with great pleasure that I welcome home all the old 16AAers home along with several new people from the 24SAS. I feel you're all going to be excellent additions to the unit.
As part of the transfer from the 24SAS we have awarded the rank of Private to full members of the 24SAS as they have passed their training over there - however there will be a big platoon refresher session today for everyone (Note : you will need Ace and the 16AA mod for it - details in the forums for both) so that we can make sure we're all using the same procedures.
With the rapid influx of people we've had to have another small reorg as detailed below - you can see the current set up on the ORBAT/Roster linked via the menu on the left.
The Combat Service Support section has been established, only for flyers at the moment. PTEs Miller and Peake have been transferred over to the flight roles - We intend to have two more pilots assigned to this area in the short term. We're also aiming to have some flight courses/qualifications drawn up in the near future and I'll be working with PTEs Miller and Peake run through what is required.
Three section has opened, led by LCPL.Powell - PTE.Wyatt, PTE.Hewitt, PTE.Paice, PTE.Endersby and PTE.Miller.J have also been assigned to it. This section is going to be our Fire Support/Pathfinder/Mortar section - as it's rare we need all three at once. If anyone else is interested in joining the section, please PM myself and LCPL Powell.
Additionally, we now have a private server running the ACE2 and 16AA mods. We will keep this relatively up to date with regards to the ACE2 features. We have also got a vanilla server running (the Tactical Server) which has been upgraded to 32 players... of course, some of these things have cost a little, so you can donate via the donation link on the front page if you'd like... Promotions and 2 Section Opened |
Feb 25, 2010 - 3:59 PM - by 2LT.Hutson
|
First up, I must say that it's excellent to see so many of the old members of the 16AA back - it's great catching up with you all. Also, a big welcome to the new faces amongst us - the first of many I am sure. We are still accepting unit transfer enlistments and any previous 16AA members (both will receive promotion straight to the rank of private).
With the fast growth of the 16AA since it's restart last week we have already outgrown our first section and so have split the section in half and formed a second section in first platoon.
Note: User-names on the forums will have changed - we have dropped the unit assignment, as our new ORBAT/Roster system runs that fully (see the system in action here - you can already see your service records on there by clicking your names).
Our main aim over the next month is to try to fill up the first Platoon to enable our upcoming campaign to run smoothly - it's going to involve some sizeable manoeuvres so the more we have on board the better.
Congratulations are in order for CPL Harlow, LCPL Moffat and LCPL Powell for their new promotions as part of this reorganisation.
